CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA / RankWire.AI / – Apple has launched the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, featuring enhancements in camera technology, battery capacity, and processing performance. Both models are equipped with the new A20 Pro chip and include a redesigned vapor chamber to ensure consistent high performance. Additionally, Apple has introduced a more compact Dynamic Island and advanced camera controls tailored for professional users. Preorders will be available starting September 12, with official sales beginning on September 18 across over 65 countries and regions.

The most notable change in the camera system is a 48-megapixel Fusion Main camera with an adjustable aperture. Six internal blades enable the lens to shift between four different aperture settings. Users can manually modify the aperture, shutter speed, and white balance directly within the Camera app. A histogram display helps monitor exposure levels while composing a scene. The upgraded imaging system introduces new texture and grain adjustment options for Photographic Styles, and videographers can now apply Cinematic effects after recording.

Apple is also rolling out a new Reference Image feature for verifying if a photograph has been edited or altered. This opt-in option captures signed sensor data when a photo is taken in Reference mode. The data is processed via Private Cloud Compute into a reference image, which can be compared within the Photos app. Support for the SynthID standard will be expanded through a software update later this year. Additionally, image metadata offers an alternative method for identifying AI-generated or modified images.

Enhanced control for photographers with variable aperture

The A20 Pro chip is manufactured using a 2-nanometer process, integrating a six-core CPU with a seven-core GPU. Apple claims the GPU can operate up to 40% faster than the A19 Pro. The chip features a Dual 16-core Neural Engine with a total of 32 cores dedicated to artificial intelligence tasks. Its new thermal design positions the processor closer to a larger vapor chamber, allowing for more efficient cooling. According to Apple, this configuration provides up to 40% higher sustained performance compared to the previous generation.

Battery capacity also sees an increase, especially on models relying solely on eSIM. Apple rates the iPhone 18 Pro for up to 36 hours of video playback. The iPhone 18 Pro Max can reach up to 45 hours under the same testing conditions. The device can achieve a 50% charge in approximately 15 minutes when using compatible wired accessories. Versions with only eSIM will be available in markets including Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, along with several other countries outside the region.

iOS 27 introduces Siri AI features for the new Pro models

Running on iOS 27, the iPhone 18 Pro series supports the latest Apple Intelligence technology. Siri AI enters beta on September 14 for devices supporting English. Apple plans to expand language support in October to include French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. The virtual assistant can leverage information from messages, emails, and photos when users seek assistance. It can also respond to on-screen content and interact with the Camera app. Apple Intelligence combines on-device processing with Private Cloud Compute to handle supported cloud-based tasks.

Both models will be available in burgundy, glacier, silver, and black, with storage options ranging from 256GB to 2TB. The starting price for the iPhone 18 Pro in the United States is $1,199, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max begins at $1,299. Preorders will open at 5 a.m. Pacific Time on September 12. The official retail release is scheduled for September 18 in the initial markets, followed by the availability in another 20 countries and regions starting September 25.
