CAIRO, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – Remittances from Egyptians working abroad totaled approximately $29.7 billion between January and July 2026. According to the Central Bank of Egypt, this figure represents a 28.1% increase from roughly $23.2 billion recorded during the same period in the previous year. The seven-month period saw an addition of roughly $6.5 billion compared to the same months of 2025. These figures encompass money sent home by Egyptians employed overseas. The January-to-July increase followed the historic high reported for the full calendar year of 2025.

Overseas remittances to Egypt continued rising across the first seven months of 2026.

In July alone, remittance inflows reached about $4.5 billion, marking a 20% rise from roughly $3.8 billion in July 2025. Several earlier months also experienced year-on-year growth. In January, remittances amounted to about $3.5 billion, up from $2.9 billion in the same month of the previous year. February saw remittance inflows grow to approximately $3.8 billion from $3.0 billion in February 2025. The combined total for January and February reached about $7.3 billion, surpassing the previous year’s combined total by roughly $1.4 billion. These early months significantly contributed to the overall seven-month rise.

The broader fiscal-year data also illustrates a substantial increase in incoming remittances. Egypt received roughly $47.3 billion during fiscal 2025/2026, which is a 29.6% rise from $36.5 billion in the previous fiscal year. June 2026 alone brought in approximately $4.2 billion, compared to $3.6 billion in June 2025, reflecting a 15.6% monthly increase. The fiscal year spanned from July 2025 to June 2026, while the current seven-month figures cover January through July 2026. In dollar terms, the entire fiscal-year increase totals about $10.8 billion.

Remittance inflows demonstrate consistent growth across various reporting periods

Data for the calendar year also shows continued upward momentum. Remittances in 2025 reached about $41.5 billion, representing an increase of 40.5% from roughly $29.6 billion in 2024. This growth amounts to approximately $11.9 billion. During the first half of fiscal 2025/2026, inflows reached about $22.1 billion, compared to $17.1 billion during the same period a year earlier. By January 2026, cumulative fiscal-year remittances reached $25.6 billion, compared with $20.0 billion in the same period of the previous fiscal year. The Central Bank of Egypt reported about $29.4 billion through February, which is 28% higher than the roughly $23.0 billion recorded during the same eight-month span. December’s year-on-year growth contributed roughly $800 million.
